Background

IDGT (Institute of Digital Game Technology¡ªa wholly owned subsidiary of TQ Global Pte Ltd Singapore) and IMI (Institute for Media Innovation - an institution within the Nanyang Technological University), are proposing to WDA to start an industrial certificate program to train Game Technical Artists and Game Programmers.

IDGT has 2 campuses, one in Shenzhen China and the other in NTU gameLAB under the Advanced Game Platform Program. IDGT¡¯s parent company, TQ Global has been sponsoring a Masters Program for Advanced Game Platform Program since 2006. The first batch of Masters Program, comprising of 4 students graduated in 2008 and presently there are 7 Masters students under the program. All students under this program are bonded to work for TQ Global for 2 years after graduation. In this Masters Program students learn to conduct advanced research and develop technology that can be used in game development environment. The students graduated from this program will get a Master Degree from NTU and a credit in the game they help to create.

IDGT is dedicated to advance the art of game development and research for game developers and producers in Asia. We believe in training and nurturing the next generation of game producers and developer through advanced learning, combine with a real world games and state of the art research and development facility housed under NTU-IMI Games Lab infrastructure.

The founder of IDGT and TQ-Global has been involved in the training of digital artists since 1998 for Hong Kong City University¡¯s SPACE Program through our CDMT (Center for Digital Media Technology). In Year 2000, a full flagged training institute, IDMT (Institute for Digital Technology ?C www.idmt.cn) was set up by the GDC-Holdings in Hong Kong (of the same founder) in co-operation with Shenzhen University in China. To date, IDMT has trained more than 6,000 digital artists in China.

TQ Global¡¯s main business is in console game and on-line CG games development and production. The founders of TQ had been in the games business, CG production and training for over 10 years in USA, Singapore, Hong Kong and China. TQ-Global has recently launched the first Singapore co-produced console game for Xbox and PS3. The game ¡°Baja-Edge of Control¡± has incorporated many technology and research done by our team of Masters Students in Singapore. Our advanced game research projects had won IDM-NRF grant and MDA support.
IMI (Institute for Media Innovation) is an institute within the NTU university system. Its mission is to advance the technology and to innovate new idea for various departments within the NTU system.
